BlogTalks

Its alive and are comments worthwhile

It's been a stressful week or so but BlogTalks is now fully transferred. The last part of the transfer was to rename the RSS feed which now points directly to the FeedBurned feed. There was a 24 hour delay as FeedBurner could not see the changes for the name servers straight away.

What no comments

You may have noticed that there are no comments, there is a good reason for this. Firstly BlogTalks runs on a custom content management system (CMS) which is 99 percent client side. In fact it's written in the now ancient VB6. This means there is no interactivity.

The second reason is that I am still not fully convinced comments are worth having. Like most bloggers experience most of the comments are spam which Akismet does a good job on WordPress to manage. There are also a lot of self promotional comments, the sort of great post and by the ways this is a link to my site.

Depending on the blog there is only usually a small minority of truly genuine comments. It would be great if we could get back to the days of this. I am not a strong PHP coder so if a comment system does manifest itself on BlogTalks it may be a while before it happens. In the meantime if you do have some feedback you can contact me on newsniche at gmail dot com. Why not drop me a message and you may even find your self and your site mentioned in the next post.
